Sturm of Love. Reading and discussion with Sonya Schönberger and Anne Ratte-Polle

Place: Galerie im Körnerpark, Schierker Str. 8, 12051 Berlin
Time: 20/09/2026, 17:00

Sonya Schönberger’s book Sturm of Love – Brüche (2022) is based on conversations with people who have either experienced infidelity in romantic relationships or have themselves been unfaithful. It opens up an intimate and uncomfortable space filled with stories of betrayal and loss, of relationships falling apart, of parenthood as a trap, and of the return of traditional gender roles within supposedly modern ways of life.

Walk-Performance by Marcela Moraga

Place: Galerie im Körnerpark, Schierker Str. 8, 12051 Berlin
Time: 12/09/2026, 21:00

A firebug who sprinkles around in Körnerpark will instruct us about how this controlled, baroque nature has been kept intact across the centuries. To commence, a rather singular discussion takes place between the bug and the one of the garden’s putti. As the tour group continues down the alley of plane trees, some of the questions that the “mammal listeners” pose shall be answered, such as: Was anything like an insurrection ever staged by the central lawn? Or by the climbing plants? Why is Körnerpark referred to as a “paradise without bees”? After a stroll through the flower garden, passing by alligators and urns of fruit, the firebug will make a choreographic presentation at the waterfall or “Mayan pyramid”, so as to impress upon us the immutable symmetry of this architectonic landscape. Sans souci!

Circe, still here, 2026

Place: Galerie im Körnerpark, Schierker Str. 8, 12051 Berlin
Time: 26/06/2026, 21:00

In this performative action, artist Sasha Amaya activates images from stories and paintings to explore the relationship between balance and disruption, and our ideas about how nature and the feminine are perceived. In juxtaposing notions of the classical with reality and form with unpredictability, we are invited into a game of chance, judgement, humour, beauty, and context.

What does photosynthesis taste like? / Wild Ice Cream Parlour, 2025

Place: Galerie im Körnerpark, Schierker Str. 8, 12051 Berlin
Time: 26/06/2026, 19:00

Building on an artistic exploration of photosynthesis as a sensory experience, wild plants collected on site — particularly weeds — are transformed into sorbets and served within a homemade structure that invites direct engagement with visitors. In this way, the conversion of light into sugar — a fundamental process underlying all life — becomes tangible through a form of “edible storytelling” that brings together taste, conversation, and situated knowledge. By turning wild plants into ice cream, the work creates an abstraction that opens up unexpected ways of relating to the vegetal world.

Conversation: Learning from Weeds with C.C. McKee and Colleen Ndemeh Fitzgerald

Place: diffrakt, Crellestraße 22, 10827 Berlin
Time: 11/03/2026, 19:30

What can we learn from weeds? What role have Western scientific traditions played in constructing categories such as “invasive” or “useful” plant species? Together with C.C. McKee and Colleen Ndemeh Fitzgerald, we will discuss how colonial power relations have shaped botanical narratives and how alternative, relational perspectives on plants might open up new ways of thinking and living together. In this conversation, “weed” is understood not only as a botanical category, but also as a political and epistemic concept that touches on questions of belonging, control, and resistance.

Performative reading by Lucila Pacheco Dehne (in German) in collaboration with alpha nova & galerie futura

Place:  alpha nova & galerie futura, Am Flutgraben 3, 12435 Berlin
Time: 29/01/2026, 19:00

Tea For Thousands (A Manifesto For Weeds) is a performative reading in which the stories of different weeds come together. A narrative written as a manifesto recalls the plants that were historically banned because they were used for contraception and abortion, reflecting on the plants that humans discarded as weeds, despite their healing powers. As we  look ahead to the future, we consider the extent to which these plants could create  new systems in which they, and other living beings, could autonomously make decisions for themselves and their own rights.

Wildpinkler*innen. Collective outdoor action by Daniela Medina-Poch, FLINTA waters and weeds (in English)

Place: Entrance to Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien,  Mariannenplatz 2, 10997 Berlin
Time: 11/8/2025 at 16:27

Peeing in public space and the life of weeds are closer than you might think. To find out, we invite you to relax, release, and make yourself at home alongside bushes and weeds. Together, we may answer the following questions and formulate new ones: How can the feral qualities of weeds inspire our bodies? What is the sonic composition of our pee? Can we form a collective stream of water? shuuuuusuuuuishui

One afternoon in November, we gathered in an exhibition space to drink, to tell each other stories about peeing in public, to go outside and pee together among many weeds, and then to drink again, this time in a bar. In this audio piece, the waters from that event flow between stories told afterwards by some who attended and others who wanted to attend but could not. With partial anonymity, those who recognize the voices will be able to identify the authors of the stories.

Of Roses [how to embody the layers of time]
(2021) by Eve Tagny

In Of Roses [how to embody the layers of time] (CAN 2021, 65 Min.), Tagny traces the colonial history of rose cultivation, showing how this emblem of beauty was shaped by imperial trade, botanical displacement, and extractive gardening practices.
