Diana Policarpo is a visual artist and composer working across sound, sculpture, film, drawing, and installation. Her practice explores the intersections of art and science, engaging with popular culture, health, gender politics, and interspecies relationships.
Liquid Transfers explores the entanglement between biology, control, and resistance. Drawing from the histories of ergot and its hallucinogenic, reproductive, and militarized uses, Diana Policarpo traces how a parasite of rye becomes a site of struggle over bodies and knowledge. From folk medicine to witch trials, from LSD synthesis to Cold War experiments, the fungus carries memories of care and coercion. In a three-channel video installation enveloped in the hues of rye fields, the work revisits the 1951 mass poisoning of Pont-Saint-Esprit, weaving together archival fragments and speculation.
