Works
Dana Lorenz explores the entanglements of classism, queer body politics, and biographical experiences. Out of this artistic research, extensive installations and assemblages of sculptural objects, photographs and texts occur that are written essayistically and associatively, humorously and repetitively.
Clenched teeth and nighttime grinding point to suppressed anger, inner tension, and unconscious processing. A mouthguard serves to contain these symptoms. In the exhibition, we understand it as a tool of regulation and control—Dana Lorenz’ sculpture becomes a kind of antidote to the rebellious, untamed body, which remains adaptive and resilient. Like a prosthesis of endurance, it evokes associations with pushing through, persistence, resistance, and the will to survive, always in tension with different social and political systems of order.
